THAT staff proceed with an enhanced education program to
inform residents of methods to manage or minimize the
damage associated with the Chafer Beetle at an estimated cost
of up to $5,000 as recommended in the report dated February
16, 2015 from Engineering and Parks Services regarding
Chafer Beetle Damage – Management Options;
AND THAT the request for $5,000 for the enhanced education
program be referred to the Finance Committee to determine a
suitable funding source; AND THAT staff collaborate with other municipalities,
particularly the Cities of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, to
share costs and develop common messages to manage or
minimize the damage associated with the Chafer Beetle;
AND THAT staff develop an action plan for addressing Chafer
Beetle damage on City lands and bring forward a proposed
plan, including cost implications, for Council’s consideration.
